He Was With the Wild Animals

Mark 1:12-13

Pastor Garrison Greene

BIG IDEA: Jesus was tempted and faithful for us.

We apologize that the sermon audio starts a few minutes into the sermon.

To give context for where this begins, Pastor Garrison had introduced Jesus temptation in Mark 1:12-13. In verse 12, the phrase "drove him out into the wilderness" hearkens readers back to Israel's 40 years of testing and trial in the wilderness in the Old Testament. Pastor Garrison had just read aloud from 1 Corinthians 10:1-11, where Paul explains that Israel's story was written as an example for us.

The parallel texts he references on Jesus' temptation are Matthew 4:1-11 and Luke 4:1-13.

"God had one Son without sin, but he never had a son without temptation.” - Charles Spurgeon
