Our vision for this ministry is to support women in the local church to grow as disciples of Jesus, loving God with all her heart, soul, mind, and strength and her neighbor as herself. We plan to do this in three main ways.
First, through bible study. Moving forward, there will be a rhythm of bible studies offered in the Spring, Summer and Fall that meet in the mornings and evenings. We are committed to offering childcare during the morning bible studies to allow for as many of you to join us as possible.
Second, through collective events. Community groups are the main source of building community at Veritas, but we recognize that ladies want to connect with other women across these groups. We will aim to have 2-3 official events per year and will vary in size, scope, and purpose. If there is an event you are interested in, please let us know.
Third, through organic mentorship relationships. Finding a mentor is tough, let’s be honest. The details are still fuzzy for us but know that we do want to help facilitate these organic relationships. Please let us know if you are interested in being mentored or serving as a mentor.
Fall Ministry Event:
Friendship
You were not designed for loneliness or isolation. We were made for connection with God and with others! God cares about these relationships, including friendship, and addresses them in the Bible. But sometimes friendship feels elusive, confusing, or even harmful. How do I navigate friendships from a Christian worldview?
This is a big question, but we hope to address Christian friendship at the upcoming Women’s Ministry Fall event and dive deeper into topics about friendship through life changes, friendship hurt, hospitality, and friendship with non-Christians.
Tuesday November 5th
7:00-9:00pm
Hope Lutheran Church, Great Hall
Younger girls are welcome, but we will primarily discuss adult friendships. Please note that child care will not be provided.
Fall Bible Study
Genesis: God of Covenant
Understanding this first book of the Bible is essential to understanding the rest of Scripture, including key themes and people referred to throughout the Bible. The storyline of Scripture — creation-fall-redemption-restoration — has its origin in Genesis. The lives of key figures mentioned in the New Testament — Able, Noah, Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob and his sons (the 12 tribes of Israel) — are described in Genesis. Digging into this Old Testament history book will open your eyes to many wonderful truths about God, salvation, and humanity and help you understand the whole Bible better.
In 2023, the women of Veritas completed Jen Wilkin’s God of Creation bible study covering Genesis 1-11 as the church started a sermon series through Genesis. Since our pastors are still preaching through Genesis, we will go through a broad overview of Genesis 12-50 using Jen Wilkin’s God of Covenant bible study. The workbook and online video lessons from Jen Wilkin will be provided to participants.

Fall 2024 Read: Made for Friendship by Drew Hunter
God made you for friendship.
Friendship is one of the deepest pleasures of life. But in our busy, fast-paced, mobile world, we’ve lost this rich view of friendship and instead settled for shallow acquaintances based on little more than similar tastes or shared interests.
Helping us recapture a vision of true friendship, pastor Drew Hunter explores God’s design for friendship and what it really looks like in practice―giving us practical advice to cultivate the kinds of true friendships that lead to true and life-giving joy.
Join us this Fall as we read and learn together!
